DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 01: VISIT PHNOM PENH

On arrival at Phnom Penh, the bustling capital city of Cambodia, your local English-speaking guide will be on hand to meet you personally, and will transfer you to your hotel for check in. After checking in you will have the rest of the day free to explore or relax.

Phnom Penh is known as the "Pearl in Asia", it was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina in the 1920s with many old colonial buildings. Many of these still survive and you can explore many French colonial buildings scattered along the grand boulevards. Being the capital, Phnom Penh is the political and commercial centre of Cambodia.

Tonight you will enjoy a Cambodian Living Art performance at the Cambodia National Museum that starts around 07:00 pm and depicts past and present Cambodian life. You will have a traditional Khmer dinner at a local restaurant.

Meal: Dinner included
Accommodation in Phnom Penh.

DAY 02: PHNOM PENH - S21 MUSEUM - KILLING FIELDS - ROYAL PALACE
After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, your tour guide will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby and drive you about 15 Km out of Phnom Penh to see Beoung Cheoung Ek Memorial Monument (Killing Fields), and then back to Phnom Penh to the Tuol Sleng Museum (S21). While tis can be a bit harrowing, it’s important to know the darker side of recent Cambodian history, when under the tyranny of Pol Pot’s regime, millions of innocents were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison (Tuol Sleng Museum), before ultimately being transported to the killing fields to be exterminated in barbaric ways. After the war the Cambodian Government constructed a massive Stupa (Memorial Monument) to keep some of those victim’s skulls, bones and pieces of clothing, and hold a yearly ceremony to bring peace to the spirits of the deceased. A dark time in Cambodia’s past.

After lunch, you will have a guided tour of the National Museum and the Royal Palace with its Silver Pagoda. The Royal Palace compound contains some spectacular buildings such as the Throne Hall, the Royal Treasury Hall and the Napoleon II villa. The steps of the Silver Pagoda (Pagoda of Emerald Buddha) are crafted from Italian marble, and within the throne room the regal floor consists of more than 500 solid silver blocks, weighing around 6 tones. The current king's living quarters are in a separate hall.

In the evening you will have a unique experience, namely a Cyclo excursion along the Mekong Riverfront, passing Wat Phnom, an iconic symbol of the city.

Meal: Breakfast and Dinner included
Accommodation in Phnom Penh.

DAY 03: PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP - ANGKOR WAT - PHARE CAMBODIA CIRCUS

In the morning after breakfast and check out, you will transfer to Siem Reap by air. On arrival at Siem Reap your local English-speaking guide will meet and greet you and transfer you to your hotel for check in (Official check in is at 14:00, early check in depends on room availability).

After settling in, you will set off on an excursion to the amazing and awe inspiring temple of Angkor Wat, surrounded by a huge manmade moat. It is no surprise to find that the Angkor Archaeological Park was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. You will also enjoy a truly memorable sunset with a panoramic view from Pre Rup temple.

Tonight you will be amazed at a performance by the Phare Cambodia Circus; a troupe of young Cambodians offering a spectacular and exciting blend of traditional and modern theatre, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling and contortion beautifully choreographed and performed as a story depicting Cambodian life and society. You will enjoy a welcome dinner before heading to Phare Cambodia Circus.

Meal: Breakfast and Dinner included
Accommodation in Siem Reap.

DAY 04: SIEM REAP - ANGKOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK - LANDMINE MUSEUM

You start the tour today after an early breakfast, heading off to explore the ancient capital city of Angkor Thom. You will walk along the ramparts from the South Gate to see Prasat Chrung, stopping at the Death Gate for some fruit and snacks before continuing on to visit the main temple of Bayon. You will also visit some nearby temples such as Baphuon, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Next you will visit the mysterious ‘Tomb Raider’ temple of Ta Prohm, the jungle temple, overgrown over centuries by balsa wood trees and vines.

Enjoy your packed lunch near Siem Reap River then have a rest in a hammock for a short nap just as the locals do, before starting your afternoon tour. You will spend the afternoon exploring Banteay Srei temple which is known as the ‘Women’s Temple', and is associated with the supposed training of female soldiers to fight against the enemy. It is fairly unique in that it is constructed of beautiful pink sandstone and decorated with intricate stone carvings. On the way back you will visit the impressive Cambodia Landmine Museum, which has disarmed and collected thousands of landmines. What is even more impressive is the story of one Khmer man, Mr. Aki Ra, who disarmed the majority of these landmines alone. If time permits, you will explore the ruins of Preah Khan, which sits right in the middle of the jungle. You will enter from the east and walk along the causeway listening to the sounds of birds and gibbons, making for a very pleasant experience.

Tonight you will enjoy dinner accompanied by a traditional Apsara dance performance depicting the ancient culture of the Khmer empire.

Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included
Accommodation in Siem Reap.

DAY 05: SIEM REAP - QUAD BIKE (ATV) SUNRISE - KHMER FOOD TOUR
Your guide in a motor trailer (tuk tuk) will pick you up from your hotel around 5 AM today. You will transfer to the Quad Bike Center for a quick briefing and safety training on how to use the gears, clutch and brakes before starting your 4-wheeled adventure. You begin with a drive on your ATV through the small village of “Chreav” in the south to catch the stunning sunrise over the green paddy fields. Great photographs are guaranteed here. The breeze as you drive along the back roads is a great feeling especially on a bright, fresh morning. On the way back, you will stop at the local market where the farming life starts very early. You’ll also see local people having a quick breakfast by the side of the road before heading to work in the fields. At the end of the quad bike adventure you return to town by tuk tuk to have breakfast at one of the most popular local restaurants before you transfer back to hotel.

You will have some free time at your hotel to relax, have a swim or visit the local market on your own.

At 4:30 PM your Tuk-Tuk will meet you again at your hotel to start the afternoon Local Food Tour. You will begin your food tasting experience at a few of the local restaurants near the market where you can also try many different foods, as well as learning a bit about some of the local herbs and ingredients available at the market. Do not miss out on the street food stalls or fruit shakes along the walking section of the tour; they are delicious!

Khmer cuisine is fresh and adventurous, and in more and more places, also organic. It is filled with many wonderful flavors and textures. We’ll demonstrate to you exactly what we are saying. We know all the best places.

Meal: Breakfast and Dinner via food tour included
Accommodation in Siem Reap.

DAY 06: FLOATING VILLAGE - DEPART SIEM REAP

You will explore this great ecosystem by canoe and hear the calls of the birds and macaque monkeys while marveling at the forest beneath the lake’s surface. Finally , you will see an old Buddhist temple, set alone on an island with some beautiful Buddhist life paintings on the celling.

You return to the hotel for check out (by 12:00 noon) then transfer to airport for your departure fight.

Meal: Breakfast  included

"Always memorable!"

I consider myself very lucky to have known Mr Kun (Travelloops General Manager) since 2007. Many unforgettable fond memories have been attributed to the well constructed and customised itineraries Mr Kun and his team have thoughtfully put together for myself and the many friends I have travelled Cambodia (and neighbouring SEA countries) with over the years. Mr Kun and his team have always proven to be extremely knowledgable, accommodating and of course lots of fun to be around with many friendships forged over the years! Our short visit in June certainly didn't dissappoint. Although short on time (2 days) we managed to squeeze in a half day Angkor tour (in the comfort of an air conditioned car), sampled wonderful local cuisine and also got a taste of the local nightlife thanks to the amazing Mr Kun! Don't know when I'll be back but Travelloops will always be my first point of contact. Thank you Mr Kun for another memorable time in Siem Reap!

"Cycle touring Camboia and Laos, multi-day tours"

From 2010 to 2016, we have toured with Travelloops several times on very memorable trips. Our initial tour was 3 weeks from Siem reap to the Mekong which we followed from Pakse, Laos to Southern Cambodia. It was a tremendous trip due to the experience and wonderful Travelloops folks led by Chanra , chanra@travelloops.com. We have since done 2 more multi weeks tours and several 1 day trips, all of them tremendous experiences.
I can enthusiastically recommend Travelloops as a tours company for cycling, hiking, or motor tours in and around Siem Reap, Cambodia and Laos.
